Virgin London Marathon 2014

Here at Shelbourne Reynolds we are all very proud of one of our employees after she completed her second Virgin London Marathon, but this time in an amazing 2hr 39min and 55sec!  This was 7minutes faster than her Personal Best and leaving her finishing the race as the 2nd British woman!

Sara Bird works for us as an administration assistant in procurement and finance. She won’t shout about this but we will because we all think it’s a fantastic achievement and so well deserved after all of her hard work, dedication and the training every day.  Up until a few weeks ago Sara didn’t even have a coach and was going it alone.  Only a few weeks ago she ran 100 miles in one week, being a career high.

Sara started her Marathon training 5 months before and the following is an average week of training.  It makes the rest of us tired just reading it and bear in mind that the morning runs are all before she gets to work!

Monday – AM - 8 miles (55-60 minutes worth of running), PM- Pilates

Tuesday -  AM - 10 miles (70-75 minutes worth of running, PM – 7 miles (50-55 minutes)

Wednesday – AM – 6 miles easy (40-45 minutes), PM – Track workout (2 miles warm up, 5-6 miles worth of effort, 2 miles warm down)

Thursday – AM- 15 miles (1 hour 45 minutes worth of running), PM – Strength and Conditioning exercises

Friday – AM – 7 miles (50-55 minutes), PM- Weight training

Saturday – AM – 1 mile warm up, 6 mile tempo, 1 mile warm down, PM – 5 miles (35 minutes)

Sunday – AM – 24 miles (2 hours, 35-40 minutes worth of running), PM – Strength and Conditioning exercises                      

In the lead up to this year’s London Marathon, Sara raced in 2 half marathons, once again achieving Personal Best times!
