4th June 2014

Shelbourne Reynolds is using Grassland and Muck 2014 to unveil a new range of hedge/verge cutters which are specifically aimed at farmers seeking a mid-range machine.

Designed in response to demand from both dealers and customers, the new 600 series sits between the contractor-specified HD700 series and the lower spec 500 series machines targeted at the farmer market.

656The 600 series takes the 70hp pumps, motors and hydraulic system from the HD range and couples them with a larger 230 litre oil tank with the availability of an optional oil cooler. The package is mounted on a lighter-weight frame and arm combination, which keeps overall machine weight below 1,500kg, and as a consequence it is suited to tractors of 90hp and above. The result is a high performance trimmer suitable for mid-sized machines, making it ideal for smaller contractors and larger farmers alike.

While the standard control system uses cables, a new digital proportional joystick control has been developed specifically for the 600 series, giving proportional control of lift and reach functions. Like the more sophisticated control system of the HD700 series, it can be programmed using the cab-mounted joystick console to tailor the control responses to the operator's preference.

The first model in the 600 Series is the 656, a 5.6m reach parallel-arm power-slew machine. Standard spec comprises a belt drive HD 1.2m flail head, while options include a 1.5m unit with either inboard or outboard drive. Other possibilities on the options list include a hydraulic head roller and a narrow lane bracket.

Prices for the HD656 start at £17,063
